Instrumental and grading scoring studies are conducted to objectively evaluate the efficacy of products in reducing pore visibility and porphyrin levels, key markers associated with skin appearance and sebum-related activity.
3D skin topography (AEVA-HE, C-Cube) enables precise quantification of skin surface microrelief. These fringe projection and optical profiling systems generate 3D reconstructions of the skin, allowing accurate measurement of pore number, size, depth, and volume, as well as overall skin roughness.
2D image analysis (VISIA-CR, FrameScan, C-Cube) complements 3D measurements by providing standardized, high-resolution facial imaging under controlled lighting conditions (including UV and cross-polarized modes). Dedicated software algorithms allow automated detection and quantification of visible pores and porphyrins—fluorescent metabolites produced by Cutibacterium acnes—which serve as indirect markers of sebaceous activity and skin microbiota imbalance.

In Dermaclaim, we also conduct clinical studies after oral intake, with the previous approval of the Ethical Committee.
Dermaclaim evaluates the functionality and bioavailability of nutraceuticals and novel foods, after oral treatment, using different approaches:
